Keep Your Aligners Clear

Your Invisalign aligners need consistent cleaning to keep them free from buildup. Clean aligners also protect your teeth from harmful bacteria. You reduce your risk of cavities or gum problems by practicing these simple care tips each day:

  • Rinse your aligners with lukewarm water after removing them.
  • Brush your teeth after eating and before putting your aligners back in.
  • Clean your aligners twice daily with a gentle soap.
  • Store them in their protective case when not being worn.
  • Avoid rinsing them with hot water as it can warp the plastic.

These routines will ensure your aligners stay in top condition. You'll also keep your smile safe.

Create Good Aligner Habits

You will need to follow best practices to keep your aligners in shape and your treatment on track. Follow our recommendations for smooth and effective treatment:

  • Take out your aligners before eating or drinking anything except water to avoid staining.
  • Keep your aligners in their case during meals so you don't lose them.
  • If you do lose an aligner, reach out to us ASAP. We can get a replacement and advise you on what to do until it arrives.
  • Keep your prior set of aligners when you move to a new set. You may need to wear one while waiting for a replacement aligner.
  • Don't chew gum or smoke while wearing your aligners. These habits can stain aligners or cause other damage.

We're here to support you throughout your Invisalign treatment. If you have questions about aligner care in Murfreesboro, give us a call.

I’ve been going to Dr. Fisher’s office for a few years now. I think he is a wonderful dentist. He takes his time to actually talk with you and has the patience to listen to everything you have to say, I never feel rushed. I met Rachel one of his dental hygienist today and she was just phenomenal! I told her about my highly sensitive areas, due to receding gum lines and she actually listened and asked if I wanted some numbing gel put on those areas to help ease the pain. No one‘s ever recommended that to me. It made such a difference in my teeth cleaning! She makes you feel so comfortable and at ease. I really enjoyed my visit with her. She’s so good at her job and she’s so personable! She is just awesome. I can’t say it enough!! I’m actually looking forward to my next teeth cleaning! And I can’t forget about Christina at the front desk. She is very welcoming and super sweet too. Oh, and there was the lady that was checking me out, I didn’t get her name, but she was really nice too. I would highly recommend Dr. Fisher’s office to anyone and everyone they are also wonderful.

Common Questions About Aligner Care

How long will I need to wear my Invisalign aligners?

Your treatment typically lasts between six to 12 months for most patients. Dr. Fisher will create a personalized timeline based on your specific smile needs. Your consistent wear and follow-up visits help ensure you finish on schedule. Remember that each smile journey is unique, so your timeline might differ from others.

Can I eat with my Invisalign aligners in?

You should always remove your aligners before eating any food or drinking anything besides water. Food particles can get trapped between your aligners and teeth, increasing your cavity risk. Colored beverages like coffee or wine can permanently stain your clear aligners. Removing them for meals also prevents warping or damage from chewing forces.

Can I use toothpaste to clean my aligners?

Toothpaste is too abrasive and can create tiny scratches on your aligners. These scratches make aligners more visible and can trap bacteria in the surface. Toothpaste often contains coloring agents that may permanently stain your clear aligners. Stick with the Invisalign cleaning crystals or gentle, clear soap instead for the best results.
